Kiosk & Touch Screen Systems
Even the most difficult jobs can be made easy by the right company. We were approached by
McDonogh School from Owings Mills, Maryland that was founded in 1873. McDonogh was
originally a military school and wanted to honor former students that sacrificed their lives in the
military for their country. Long ago they had already built and dedicated The Memorial Field
House in their name and now wanted to Re-Dedicate the Memorial Field House to include
|
pictures of each of the soldiers and a KIOSK with a program that would tell their story.
They came to DataTREK Xtreme to help them with this project. The
Archivist for the school brought in a collection of pictures, good and
bad that we first scanned for them. We cropped the pictures and
touched them up and then printed them along with a legend so that the
pictures of each of the heroes could be displayed on the walls.

Now a more difficult task confronted us. How would we design a computer
kiosk that would fit into the decor. The Memorial Field House had been
built long before there were computers. We took a look at the old building
and it’s marble walls and columns and came up with a concept for the
Kiosk. We not only had to make this fit in with the decor, but they wanted
no moving parts, i.e. no keyboard and no mouse. We designed and built his
Kiosk with a Touch Screen.

We then had to design a program that was so easy to use that people totally
unfamiliar with computers could operate the program.
